Evidence Required

List the assessment methods to be used and the context and resources required for assessment. Copy and paste the relevant sections from the evidence guide below and then re-write these in plain English.

The evidence guide provides advice on assessment and must be read in conjunction with the performance criteria, required skills and knowledge, range statement and the Assessment Guidelines for the Training Package.

Overview of assessment

Critical aspects for assessment and evidence required to demonstrate competency in this unit

Evidence of the following is essential:

identifies personal water craft features, parts and tools

refers to sources on personal water craft selection to select a craft that meets the needs, size and proportions of the rider

conducts routine checks and repairs on the personal water craft to ensure it is suitably proportioned and in good working order

applies knowledge of personal water craft functioning and safety to select and use tools to repair common personal water craft deficiencies, such as steerage propeller problems, or refers craft to specialist repairer.

Context of and specific resources for assessment

Assessment must ensure conduct of multiple routine maintenance checks and repairs to demonstrate competency and consistency of performance.

Assessment must also ensure access to:

resources and information on personal water craft selection

personal water craft in a suitable outdoor environment that allows repairs and maintenance to take place

personal water craft repair and maintenance products and equipment.

Method of assessment

A range of assessment methods should be used to assess practical skills and knowledge. The following examples are appropriate for this unit:

oral and or written questioning to assess knowledge of personal water craft parts and their function

observation of conducting pre- routine safety checks and repairs on personal water craft parts

third-party reports from a supervisor detailing performance.

Holistic assessment with other units relevant to the industry sector, workplace and job role is recommended, for example:
